Group A

Russia is the host of FIFA World cup 2018. So, they qualified for the 2018 World Cup automatically! In group matches they will face Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Uruguay in Group A. According to Russian Football Association (RFS), the team will move to a training camp in the Stubai Valley before the World Cup finals, where coach Stanislav Cherchesov’s team already prepared for the Confederations Cup in their own country last summer, 2017.

Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia was the first among Arab teams to qualify for the 2018 world cup final. This is their fifth time. Saudi Arabia qualified for the World Cup for the first time in 1994 in the United States, reaching the 16th round. They also participated in the 1998 World Cup (France), 2002 (Korea Republic, Japan) and 2006 (Germany).

Egyptian football team achieved a long-awaited achievement for nearly three decades, ensuring that they qualify for the World Cup for the first time since 1990. This was their third time they played in the first round after 1934 and 1990. Earlier the secured the top position among the African group against Uganda, Ghana and the Congo.

Fr 1930, 1950’s World Cup champion Uruguay, 2018 world cup will be 13th appearance. They have played in semi finals 5 times. Currently their FIFA ranking is 21.

Portugal is now at 3rd position for FIFA global football ranking. This will be their 7th appearance with the football world cup final.

2010 FIFA World cup champion  Spain has secured their Russian ticket for the 15th time in their football history. Currently they are ranked as Number 6 into the FIFA ranking.

Morocco secured their World Cup 2018’s ticket for the first time in the history. They beat beating Côte d’Ivoire 2-0 on 11 November, 2017. They also secured the secure the top of the fourth African group against Côte d’Ivoire, Gabon and Mali.

For the 5th time Iran national football team has qualified for the FIFA world cup final round.  Before this Iran played 1978, 1998, 2006 and 2014.

Australia is playing the World Cup for the 4th time in a row. They defeated Honduras by 3 -1 on November 15, 2017 to confirm their world cup 2018 ticket.

Peru qualified as 32nd and last team of 2018 World Cup in Russia. They where in the play-off second leg in Lima against New Zealand by 2: 0. Since 1982, This is their fifth World Cup participation.

Croatia will be played at World Cup for the fifth time. Since Croatia is no longer part of Yugoslavia, it has missed only two major tournaments: the European Championship 2000 and the 2010 World Cup.

Senegal will take part in a World Cup for the second time this summer in Russia. The West Africans secured themselves in the penultimate round with the 2: 0 in South Africa the sovereign qualification.


The inaugural match will be played by Russia and Saudi Arabia on June 14 (6pm) at the Lushniki Olympic Stadium.
